State Theatre New Jersey

Central New Jersey’s largest nonprofit arts presenter, the historic State Theatre New Jersey, is a magnificently renovated 1,806-seat theatre that presents a diverse programming lineup. Each year over 200,000 people attend State Theatre’s world-class programming and over 35,000 children participate in its education programs.

Programming includes Broadway tours, concerts, family shows classical/pops concerts and dance. In addition, State Theatre presents comedy, rock/pop, orchestral pops with New Jersey Symphony Orchestra, jazz, international programming, Performances for Schools, a free Summer Movies Series, and Sensory-Friendly Performances. State Theatre New Jersey is a cornerstone of the cultural vitality of Central New Jersey. The mainstage programs have featured high-caliber artists such as Diana Ross, Tony Bennett, Kevin Hart, Ringo Starr, Melissa Etheridge, John Leguizamo, Harry Connick, Jr., Diana Krall, Crosby, Stills & Nash, and Jason Isbell.

State Theatre New Jersey has experienced tremendous growth in recent years, serving as a pillar of renewal and urban vitality across the region. The venue has been recognized as a Major Presenting and Service Organization by the New Jersey State Council on the Arts; and concert industry publication Venues Today ranked them the #5 theatre in the world (and #1 in NJ) for theaters of 2,000-and-fewer seats. Audiences are drawn from nearly all 21 counties of NJ, extending to NY, PA, and as far as Canada, Florida, and England.

State Theatre’s historical significance was honored by PBS by featuring it in its documentary series, Treasures of New Jersey, in the fall of 2018.
