Outpost in the Burbs

Outpost in the Burbs is a nonprofit outreach organization dedicated to community-building through music, public service, and cultural programs. It's a place to enjoy live music on Friday and Saturday nights during the fall, winter, and spring, and it's an organization that offers opportunities to serve others in the community.

Since its inception in 1987, the Outpost has produced over 500 concerts by internationally known folk artists -- including Judy Collins, Roger McGuinn, Robyn Hitchcock, Richie Havens, J.D. Souther, Jill Sobule, and Dar Williams (just to name a few) -- and have attracted audiences of more 50,000 to its intimate performance spaces.

Outpost volunteers have donated more than 35,000 hours of their time through their programs affiliated with Habitat for Humanity, Toys for Tots, Humas Needs Food Pantry of Montclair, MESH, Community Food Bank of N.J., Dress for Success, and the soup kitchen staffed by Outpost volunteers at Christ Episcopal Church in East Orange that feeds some 75 people twice a month.

The volunteers that drive Outpost in the Burbs are extraordinary people who spend some of their spare time improving the quality of life in northern New Jersey.
