Workshops

Engaging Your Audience in an Online Ecosystem

Your organization’s web site should only be the “hub” of its online presence.  Facebook, Twitter, You Tube and other key industry sites combined with blogs, email, mobile sites and even smart phone apps can all work together to create an online ecosystem for you to utilize when communicating with your patrons.

In this workshop we explored best practices for how these tools can be integrated to create a positive online experience for your audiences.

Presented by:
Mark Patten and Gregg Holtsclaw (Delphic Sage, LLC.)

Social Networking Lab (Beginner & Advanced)

“Social Networking” is no longer just a buzz word you hear from your interns – it’s redefined how the public chooses to access information and is nothing short of transforming the way it uses the web.  The “Getting  Started” side of the room addressed the basics of how to set up accounts on Facebook and Twitter as well as go about developing an audience hungry for your content.  The “Next Steps” group went beyond the basics to discuss issues surrounding frequency, tone and engagement through these popular online social media platforms.

Presented by:
Alicia Grasso (Cape May Stage), Sydney Perkins (Historic Cold Spring Village), and Jonathan Elliott (ArtPride New Jersey Foundation)

Getting to Know Your DMO

Destination Marketing Organizations (DMOs) are nonprofit groups charged with marketing their specific destinations and helping the long-term development of their communities through a travel and tourism strategy.  Over the past few years, New Jersey has developed a network of DMOs statewide to work in tandem with the New Jersey Division of Travel and Tourism to enhance the state’s overall tourism efforts.

Representatives from three of the state’s regional DMOs were on-hand to discuss the importance of cultural and heritage tourism as well as explore ways the arts community can partner effectively with this important network.

Presented by:
Jake Buganski (South Jersey Tourism Corporation), Diane Wieland (Southern Shore Region DMO), and Lori Pepenella (Long Beach Island Region of the Jersey Shore DMO)
