Mariana Maldonado was born in Ecuador, South America, and moved to the United States where she received her education at William Paterson College, The New School in NYC, and Ramapo College in Mahwah, NJ.  Maldonado is the founder and owner of ArtVue: Art Resource Services, Inc. located in Mahwah, NJ. She is a corporate art curator and consultant. In 2001, Rutgers University Mason Gross School of the Arts selected Maldonado as one of forty influential Latin American artists in the state of New Jersey.

Of her work she states, “My art is a post cubistic style of painting that purposely manipulates line and color by crossing visual boundaries. I start my work by placing arbitrary lines on the canvas. These lines become the skeletal structure from which I build my painting. Each painting is a journey. My work is never planned. I am conscious only of creating a composition that is concerned with movement, color, form and balance. Each painting is an aesthetic inquiry for me as I would like it to be for the viewer - do the lines and choice of colors separate or unite - are they background or foreground - do they represent an element or do they exist as silence between notes as in a musical composition.”

Maldonado's work has been exhibited at numerous locations in the New Jersey area including the Mason Gross Gallery, Newark Museum, City Without Walls Gallery, New Jersey Center for Visual Arts, and the Watchung Art Center. She is also a member of the Ridgewood Art Council and Salute to Women in the Arts.
