Born in 1953, Robert Kogge studied at the Parson's School of Design in New York from 1973 to 1977 and studied abroad in Europe in 1977.  Kogge has received numerous fellowships and awards, including from the Ludwig Vogelstein Foundation, the Pollock-Krasner Foundation, the Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation, and the New Jersey State Council on the Arts.

Of his work, Robert Kogge states that “Generally, I try to draw something uncommon from the common place as to offer a point of departure from day-to-day existence to universal inclusions.”

Kogge has had numerous solo exhibitions at galleries in NYC as well as in San Francisco, Nashville, and Birmingham, MI.  His group exhibitions include the New Jersey Fine Arts Annual in 1998 and 1994, the Miniature Exhibit at JJ Brookings Gallery in San Franciso, CA, the Annual Metro Show at City Without Walls in 1993 and 1994, Tools, Instruments, Utensils in San Francisco International Airport in 1989, and Art at the Millhouse: Insiders and Outsiders at Webb & Parsons in Bedford Hills, NY.  His work is in the collections of the New Jersey State Museum, Chase Manhattan Bank in NYC, Prudential Insurance Co. of America in Newark, NJ, Arbor Drugs in Troy, MI, Richard Brown Baker in NYC, American Interactive Media in Los Angeles, National Westminster Bank in South Amboy, NJ, and Rutgers University in Newark, NJ.
