Since the early 1990’s, artist Gloria Hansen has exhibited extensively throughout the country and abroad, and has been honored to win well over 100 awards.  Hansen works as a full-time graphic artist for GloDerWorks, a web-hosting and programming company she co-founded in 2001 with offices in New Jersey and the UK.  She has also worked as a new media consultant and a photographer, and she continues to provide graphic art and photography services for a Princeton-based Parkinson's organization.

Of her work she states, “I am passionate about creating with fabrics, threads, paints, dyes, and inks. The interaction of color and line fascinates me. While I enjoy working with different media and am an avid photographer, I love the tactile nature of cloth. Also being a computer user since the late 1980s, I've learned to incorporate digital design into my work while the medium was still in its infancy. As the digital medium continues to evolve, I continue to explore and push its boundaries. I get immense enjoyment transforming white cotton or silk fabric into multi-colored and layered visual textures by combining both digital and traditional media. I am drawn to geometric patterns and their visual ambiguities and to collaged imagery and its etherealness.”

She has been a featured guest on Exit 8, a NJ Cable television talk show and on Simply Quilts, a Home & Garden Television (HGTV) show.  Her work also has appeared in nearly 20 books including co-author of The Quilter’s Computer Companion and the author of Free Stuff for Traveling Quilters on the Internet. She is currently authoring a new book for fiber artists that will be published in early 2008.  Hansen has been the Technology Columnist for The Professional Quilter since 1996 and a regular contributor to other publications such as The Crafts Report and the National Quilting Association quarterly journal.  Her work has also appeared in several other publications some of which include Country Living, Art/Quit Magazine, FiberArts, Quilting Arts Magazine, the Journal of the International Quilt Association, McCalls Quilting, Quilter's Newsletter Magazine, American Quilter, and One College Avenue (publication of PennState, PA College of Technology).

Gloria Hansen’s work has been featured at the Belskie Museum of Arts and Sciences in Closter, NJ, the Anderson Arts Center in Kenosha, WI, Lincoln Center in Fort Collins, CO, LowertTown Arts District in Paducah, KY, The Katie Gingrass Gallery in Milwaukee, WI, Chandler Center for the Arts in Arizona, Makeready’s Gallery 214 Artspace in Montclair, NJ, Schweinfurth Memorial Art Center in Auburn, NY and The Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History in California.  Hansen's work has also been included in many group exhibits, some of which include The New England Quilt Museum in Lowell, MA, The Phoenix Gallery in NYC, Indianapolis Art Center, Yale Physicians Building Art Place and the Slater Museum in Norwich, CT, Brodsky Gallery in Princeton, NJ, Johnson & Johnson World Headquarters in New Brunswick, Crafts for Living Gallery in Philadelphia, and The Somerset County Arts Association.  Her work is also in private collections.
