Artwork Details
After A Certain Point In Time #1
Digital Pigment Photograph

"I have lived in Union County, New Jersey, for most of my life," Sue Zwick writes. "Born in Elizabeth, near what was then Kean College, I have resided in Summit for the last forty years. When I began my photographic odyssey, I initially focused on architecture, which has been my passion throughout these last sixteen years. My devotion to man-made structures resulted in a 2006 exhibition of 50 images entitled, "Built: Architectural Experiences in Black and White," which was mounted at the Durst Organization in New York City. The curator Lanny Powers wrote: "The textures of the future and echoes of the past meet in these works like an analog of cities themselves.

"My other bodies of work include "After a Certain Point In Time," "The Cruciform Series," "Gesture/Fleeting Moments," "The Tree Bark" series, "Third World Portraits, and, most recently, "Sacred Spaces." I prefer exploring subjects in depth and I am continually adding to these series. Looking back, what I find is common to many of my images is a certain sculptural/architectural feel.

"I have also exhibited at venues throughout New Jersey including: Arts Guild New Jersey (Rahway), City Without Walls (Newark), Erdman Art Gallery, Princeton Theological Seminary (Princeton), Educational Testing Service (Princeton), Johnson and Johnson (New Brunswick), The Reeves-Reed Arboretum (Summit), and the Therese A. Maloney Art Gallery at the College of Saint Elizabeth (Convent Station).

I also enjoy giving back to the arts community and for many years I have been a juror for the Teen Arts Festival and for The National Arts Program for Union County Employees and Their Families.

Sue's newest exhibition is a one-person show: Sacred Spaces, on view for the month of April in the Nancy Dryfoos Gallery at Kean University.

The Nancy Dryfoos Gallery hours are: Monday - Thursday 8:00 AM - 9:00 PM, Friday - Saturday 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Sunday 1:00 PM - 9 PM.
