Alaine Becker has been a working artist for more than 20 years. She received her BFA from the State University of New York: College at Purchase.  More recently, she received an Honorable Mention at the 21st Annual International Juried Show, held at the Visual Arts Center of New Jersey.

She works intuitively and often does not know where the work will take her. Her work is usually very quick and spontaneous. Throughout her career, she has focused on the female form. Some pieces were created with inspiration from a live model, while other images were invented. All work in the end is about the artist; experiences past and present, personal image, dreams and reactions to individual models. Movement, gesture, and color are all essential elements within her work.

For the past 10 years, Alaine Becker has been working with pastels and graphite on oversized paper.  She has exhibited her works throughout New Jersey, including the Pierro Gallery of South Orange, Montclair State University, RC Gallery, and City Without Walls.  In New York, she has exhibited at the Emily Harvey Gallery, Rizzoli Gallery and the State University College at Purchase.
