Dion Hitchings was born in St. Louis, Missouri, took up drawing at age 3, and never put the crayons down. She went to Washington University in St. Louis, and landed a job as a fashion illustrator that led to art directing fashion advertising. After moving to Chicago, she went to NYC as art director at Bloomingdale's, then Saks Fifth Avenue, and Aerosoles. Ultimately, she lost her long-time boyfriend to a car accident once living in New Jersey, lived through September 11th, and changed her priorities. She is now trying to fulfill her dream to be a full-time artist. She has shown work at Outsider Art Gallery, Art House Co-op, Kentucky Arts Festival, SIC Magazine, and in multiple group shows in NYC and NJ.

She writes, "When describing my art you can call it primitive narrative, childlike, colorful, self-revealing, erotic, funny, strange and lots of eyes. My inspirations come from many places -- people I see and work with, dreams, the garden, news, guests on The Jerry Springer Show, my american indian heritage, movies, and sex." Dion lives in Milford, NJ.

Dion will be showing her work as part of "The Toy Show" exhibit at Outsider Art Gallery in Frenchtown, NJ in May 2012.

Her work is also part of "Circus Terminal, an international exhibition touring project in UK, Spain, France, Myanmar, New Zealand, Japan, USA, and France from 2012 - 2013.
