"My work is about the relationship of different materials and what they become in the finished piece. Their reactions to each other on a chemical level is obvious; it is the more emotive qualities evoked by their combination that inspires me. As I work on a piece, my gestures and reactions change in response to the materials and their transformation. I build layer upon layer over an ever changing terrain. After the work breathes, I take a more spontaneous approach, and only then does the mystery unfold and the 'image' become clear. My art elicits widely varying interpretations and emotions which ultimately gives meaning and depth to the work. Biology, physics, history, mysticism and nature are all influences."

Born in Ft. Monmouth, NJ, Don Harger attended the Southern California Institute of Architecture, and considers himself a self-employed artist, painter, maker, stage magician, vocal stylist, and "Zen Master of Naught." He has been profiled in articles in The Red Bank Monitor, TriCity News, and Asbury Park Press. His solo exhibitions include a 2008 show at Beauregard Fine Art in Rumson and a 2006 McKay Imaging Gallery show in Red Bank. Group exhibitions include "Skull" at Parlor Gallery in Asbury Park (2010), "Sit Still" at Exhibit A Gallery in Asbury Park (2008), "Cherish the Museum" at Monmouth Museum in Lincroft (2008), and the 5th Annual Art Auction at SICA in Long Branch (2007), along with several shows in Los Angeles and Long Beach, CA.
