Leona M Seufert works in a variety of media. Originally trained as a Theatrical Set Designer she spent many years working with professional and community theatres. In recent years, after using Photoshop at one of her full time jobs, she started using it to explore the possibilities to create digital works that could express her unique vision of the world around her.

"My creative vision inspires me to take reality and manipulate it with the assistance of computer technology. Over the last 4 years, I have experimented with the unlimited possibilities of Photoshop in order to realize my creative dreams. As a starting point I use either a digital photograph or a scanned in image, then in a dialog between my eyes, my soul, and technology, I seek to release the story within that image. Using Photoshop I do not apply its filters simply for the sake of obtaining effects, but rather like a painter experiments with new brushes, to see what these effects could contribute to the composition as a whole. Each artwork is the result of many experiments, the process is an artistic delight for myself and the result, hopefully, enchanting to the viewer. I create these unique works of art because I feel that in this world stressed by fears, negativity, wars, and natural disasters, we all need to experience something uplifting. I see my mission as an artist is to transport the viewer out of this sometimes depressing mundane existence and into a world of emotion and wonder, making the world a little better for that one moment in time."

Seufert's artwork has appeared in numerous group and solo shows in the NYC Metropolitan area and upstate, NY. She has exhibited in galleries and museums such as the New Jersey State Museum in Trenton, NJ, the Hoboken Historical Museum, in Hoboken, NJ, the Pearl Street Gallery in the Union County Office of Cultural & Heritage Affairs in Elizabeth NJ, The Visual Arts Center of NJ in Summit, NJ, The Les Malamut Art Gallery in Union, NJ, The Kenny Art Gallery at the HS of Art & Design, New York City, the Abracheff School of Art, in New York City and the Market St. Gallery, in Potsdam, NY. She also lectures and demonstrates the use of Photoshop to manipulate images.

Seufert graduated from New York City's prestigious high school for art, The High School of Art & Design and holds a BA in Theatre Arts from the State University College of Arts and Science, Potsdam, NY. She is a board member of the Les Malamut Art Gallery, Union, NJ and their webmaster. Seufert is founder of and curates shows for the Casano Community Center Art Gallery in Roselle Park, NJ.
