Josh Handler is an accomplished and talented digital artist. He creates his artwork in the Matheny Arts Access Program, an alternative fine arts program for people with disabilities.

Josh creates his work both by using his own hands, and when he chooses to do so, by utilizing the Arts Access facilitation process. He directs the artist facilitators precisely as to what colors, textures, effects, shapes, etc., that he wishes to use.

State-of-the-art computer technology including Adobe Photoshop and Corel Painter give Josh the additional tools he needs to create artwork that is uniquely his own. He is always concerned with originality, and wants his art to be unlike anything else.

Josh is very particular with each step in his creative process. He will often plan ahead many steps of his project, requiring detailed note-taking to insure the exact fulfillment of his vision.

Josh is excited about his creative process and about showing his work to others. When the painting is complete, he will usually have a big smile on his face and say “I like it!” When asked how creating art makes him feel, Josh replied, “It makes me feel good and allows me to express myself creatively. I just like doing art.” When people see his art, Josh hopes they will respond that it “looks interesting” and he hopes they will ask “how did he do that?”
