Skeffington Thomas, a 1999 and 2005 New Jersey State Council on the Arts Individual Artist Fellowship recipient, received recognition as an Emerging Talent from the NCECA in 1996.  He was also presented with a Professional Development Grant from Rowan University in 1998.  Currently an Assistant Professor at Rowan University, Thomas received his BA in 1986 from Lewis and Clark College, and a MFA in Studio Art, in 1993, from Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville.  He apprenticed under Toshiko Takaezu, Professor of Ceramic Art at Princeton University, from 1986 to 1987.

His work has been exhibited at the Ceramic Grand Prix in Sarreguimines, France, Feats of Clay XII in Lincoln, CA, Ceramics Monthly International Exhibition in Columbus, OH, and Born of Ashes: Wood Fired Ceramics in Little Rock, AR.  Other select showings include the 1997 NCECA Clay National in Las Vegas, Nevada, Ceramics USA in Denton, TX, and the Monarch National Ceramic Competition in Florence, AL.
