Born in 1954, Betsey Regan has exhibited in one person shows throughout coastal Monmouth County and in group exhibitions across New Jersey, including the Oakland Street Gallery in Red Bank, NJ.  Regan was a featured artist in the 1994 New Jersey Fine Arts Annual.  Her work Sheep, an 8 by 8 inch piece, won First Prize in the 1999 Art Alliance State Show.  This work also appeared in the 1999 New Jersey Fine Arts Annual, held at the New Jersey State Museum. In 1993, Regan was honored with a “Best of Show” award in the 12th Annual Metro Show at City Without Walls in Newark, NJ.  Betsey Regan is a former student of another featured Jersey artist, Grace Graupe-Pillard.

Of her work, Barry Schwabsky of the New York Times states: “… her way of situating her animal subjects within nebulously abstract, almost monochrome fields of paint gives the feeling that the texture and movement of pigment on the canvas has given rise to the imagery, in the same way another painter's brush strokes might give rise to configurations of abstract space. We see these as creatures of paint.  Regan uses plaster along with her oil paint to give them a tactile appeal. The animals seem to move in and out of focus without ever losing their immediate tangibility.”
